Pegasus Bridge et la batterie de Merville
John Howard's action is without doubt the most spectacular commando action of D-Day and the Second World War. At ten minutes after midnight on 6 June 1944, after a daring glider landing, the airborne troops of the 6th Airborne Division arrived at Benouville Bridge which became Pegasus Bridge and went down in the annals of history. Six kilometres away, towards the coast, at Melville, a German artillery battery was set up which was in turn attacked by British paratroopers a few hours later.
