Bécassine pendant la Grande Guerre

by Caumery & Joseph-Porphyre Pinchon

From the outbreak of war, Bécassine immediately begins serving injured by becoming auxiliary of the Red Cross. The atrocities of the war, although experienced by the authors are not mentioned. It is about showing the main consequences of the hostilities on the daily life of civilians: spying, bombing, restrictions exodus.

But nothing tragic, comic scenes just exploiting the naivety of Snipe. The beaches are crowded, we continue to celebrate marriages ... all with great patriotism.

The heritage of comics what Snipe shows us life in the Belle Epoque and his character, certainly naive, shows a nice development.
